The Digital Hub Podcast programme has come to an end after a successful year with some lovely feedback from the students.
Following a strong demand from schools, The Digital Hub Podcast programme stands as a unique educational initiative designed to teach students the fundamentals of podcast production.
Developed by facilitators Aidan Fitzmaurice and Dervilia Roche, Dublin’s first Historian-in-Residence for Children at the @dccculturecompany, the programme offers a unique experience where students create their own historical podcasts, from content creation to recording and production.
Programme Highlights:
• Session 1: Information gathering and historical research.
• Session 2: Introduction to podcasts and production tools.
• Session 3: Walking tour of the city, enriching the podcast content.
• Session 4: Creation of jingles and comedic ads for the podcast.
• Session 5: Podcast recording session.
Through this programme, The Digital Hub and @dccculturecompany have effectively combined education, creativity, and local history, transforming podcasting into an attracting platform for students to explore digital storytelling and media production.
Building on the success of its 2024 pilot, the Podcast Programme has continued to expand. In November 2024, it was extended to 24 fourth-class students from St. Catherine’s National School (pictured above) who have just completed the programme.

Congratulations to @teenturn who had four winners from their Project Squad programme at @scifest4stem last weekend.
The contestants benefitted from our very own Designer-in-Residence, @glenncurtin4 expertise as a judge and awarded two junior prize category projects, Robotics Kits attributed to The Digital Hub`s ongoing support of @teenturn`s work.
Two of the Best Journey prize winners were girls who completed their projects at the Friday sessions in The Digital Hub.
The Digital Hub are delighted to play a small role in facilitating such an important initiative and wish to congratulate @teenturn and the contestants on their success.

The Liber8 Music Project in collaboration with @bimm_dublin culminated with a graduation performance that took place on Friday, 13th December in BIMM Music Institute on Francis Street.
The students demonstrated the skills they had learned over the 8-week course by playing songs by Fleetwood Mac, Radiohead and more for their family and friends.
The programme included 27 students from 7 participating schools in Dublin 8 and the surrounding areas.

@bloopgroupdublin hosted their first session last Friday in Studio 2 in 10-13 Thomas Street at The Digital Hub.
ℹ @bloopgroupdublin is an evening for electronic musicians and producers of all levels – from the mildly curious to the professionals – to hang out, test out kit and make music. It is organised by @caroline_myvolts and @dj_doo_dat who make up The Digital Hub`s member company, @myvolts. The sessions last about 3 hours.
Attendees get to chat and hang out, get set up, practise, learn, try out gear, ask questions and play short sets culminating in a structured collaborative jam where everyone syncs up and gets involved.
