Dublin Fringe Festival ~ 5th - 20th September, 📍

The Digital Hub is delighted to host 'Wit & Whimsy; Yin & Collapse', a performance by Orla McCarthy and Majon Van Der Schot, as part of this year's @dublinfringefest.

Wit & Whimsy is a playful yet poignant exploration of humour’s transformative potential as a tool for connection, resilience and reflection. Blending dance, theatre, and live music, the work satirizes the absurdities of modern life—social media’s influence, wellness commodification and the artifice of neoliberal culture—while inviting audiences to embrace the raw, ridiculous, and deeply human aspects of existence.

Inspired by the Theatre of the Absurd, Wit & Whimsy uses distortion, slapstick and interactive moments to dissolve barriers between performer and audience, creating a shared space of laughter, vulnerability and authentic connection.

The performances will take place at The Bank at The Digital Hub.

Performance Times:
Saturday, 19th September, 1:00pm and 6:00pm
Sunday, 20th September, 1:00pm and 6:00pm

Ticket pricing is available on the @dublinfringefest website.

For further information on the performance or the full festival programme, please visit @dublinfringefest's website.

Dublin Fringe Festival ~ 5th - 20th September, 📍

The Digital Hub is delighted to host 'Black Transmission', a performance installation by @clodaghassataboyce, as part of this year's @dublinfringefest.

Black Transmission is a performance installation that struggles against colonial legacy and erasure.

Placing their body and voice against Dublin’s 18th century architectural print, @clodaghassataboyce relates the city’s historical fabric to the transatlantic slave trade and the process of sugar refining.

In this confrontation, they unveil a haunted white spatial imaginary experienced in 21st century still.

Developed as part of the Common Ground Collective Futures Residency. Supported by @dublinfringefest’s Weft Initiative & Pan Pan Platform at @dublinfringefest.

The performances will take place at The Bank at The Digital Hub.

Performance Times:
Wednesday, 16th September, 7:30pm and 9:30pm
Thursday, 17th September, 7:30pm and 9:30pm

Ticket pricing is available on the @dublinfringefest website.

Dublin Fringe Festival ~ 5th - 20th September, 📍

The Digital Hub is delighted to host 'An Cailigh Rua', an exhibition by artist, @megan_luddy as part of this year's @dublinfringefest.

Taking its name from the mealtime incantation “Marbhfhaisc ar an gcailligh rua”, destruction to the red-haired girl, this visual art exhibition explores Ireland’s rich but interrupted culture of cooking and the fraught position of women within it.

Through lace, painting, ceramics, 2D animation, patchwork, weaving and embroidery, @megan_luddy traces histories of hunger, labour, food, control and survival, from lace-making and the Magdalene laundries to dairy production and seafood foraging.

The exhibition will be available for public viewing at the Digital Depot at The Digital Hub, Dublin 8.

Exhibition Opening Hours:
Wednesday, 9th September - Saturday, 12th September, 10:00am - 6:00pm

For further information on the exhibition or the full festival programme, please visit @dublinfringefest's website.

Did you know?

St Patrick's Tower on The Digital Hub campus, is located beside what is claimed to be, Ireland’s oldest fruit bearing tree.

The tree in question, a pear tree of the Pyrus Communis variety, is estimated to be aged in the range of 150 to 200 years old according to a 2009 survey by the Tree Council of Ireland.

DNA analysis of the tree in 2022 confirms it as “Marechal de Cour", also known as "Conseiller de la Cour”, a variety popular in Victorian Britain, from where it likely spread in 1847.
