The European Union has labelled this the Digital Decade and their new Digital Education Action Plan is focused on enhancing the digital skills of all in society by 2027. The Commission has set a target of 20 million IT specialists and that at least 80% of all Europeans will have basic digital skills. Key to achieving these ambitious targets is the provision of a wide range of training and supports, ranging from basic to advanced, for all citizens.
Each community is unique, and this report will firstly capture the current provision and infrastructure that is supporting local learners, at all levels, within the Dublin 8 catchment area before proposing how it might evolve in the near future to better meet the needs of individuals that live and work in the area.
The goal of the project is to provide a detailed review of current provision and opportunities in the area and to identify a range of actions that can enhance lifelong learning, employment opportunities and overall well-being of the community focusing on the needs of the individual. The Digital Hub is very aware of the extensive network of organisations working in the area already but all too often working in isolation and in silos. During the data analysis phase, the research will focus on identifying new collaborative approaches implementing a citizen centric method to deliver learning and training activities. Such an innovative approach has the potential to leverage existing supports and to transform the area in the years ahead.
The Digital Hub Development Agency is asking for your assistance to help us identify what kinds of supports people of all ages in the Dublin 8 catchment area require to improve their digital skills.
