Culture Night: These Walls – Street Art Tour & Immersive Installation

Location: Guinness Storehouse, D08 VF8H.

These Walls is a multiphase public art and cultural placemaking initiative rooted in the streets of Dublin 8. Funded by the Guinness Storehouse with support from Dublin City Council, IMMA, and The Digital Hub, Phase 1 invites artists to activate public-facing locations, including Digital Hub properties on Thomas Street, with bold, thoughtful, and visually impactful works that speak to the identity, energy, and layered histories of the area.

As part of Culture Night there will be a guided tour, starting at the Guinness Storehouse, through the streets of Dublin 8 to explore the vibrant new artworks created as part of These Walls. This walking tour showcases a dynamic range of artistic styles and approaches – each a personal response by the artist to the neighbourhood’s unique character, history, and energy. From bold abstraction to intimate portraiture, the tour offers insight into the creative processes behind each piece and reflects the lived experience, architecture, and everyday moments that inspired them.

There will also be a related event at the Guinness Storehouse where visual artists Deirdre Breen and Owen de Forge present an indoor iteration of their work created for These Walls. The immersive installation translates their outdoor works into a multisensory experience through light, sound and form. The installation is complemented by live contemporary dance and a specially commissioned soundscape from guest performers, creating a richly textured experience that evokes the past, present and evolving character of Dublin 8. These Walls invites audiences to step into an evocative portrait of community that honours histories while imagining possible futures.
