Smart D8 – New two-year initiative to improve health & wellbeing of Dublin 8 citizens
Set to officially launch on 10th March, Smart D8 is an exciting initiative with the purpose of transforming the health and wellbeing of citizens through innovation and collaboration.
With several major hospitals, research institutes and a vibrant enterprise community based in the area, Dublin 8 is an ideal location for a health and wellbeing Smart District.
Smart D8 will apply a people-centric approach with the participation of the local community at its core, and Smart D8 has engaged with the local community to understand their health and wellbeing needs.
These findings are the foundation of the Smart D8 programme, whose challenge will be to develop and pilot – through an ecosystem of innovation and collaboration – smart solutions which address these issues and help improve local residents’ health and wellbeing.
The Digital Hub, Smart Dublin, Dublin City Council and St. James’s Hospital are joined by HSE Digital Transformation, Tyndall National Institute, St Patrick’s Mental Health Services, Trinity Research & Innovation, Trinity Translational Medicine Institute, National College of Art & Design, Guinness Enterprise Centre and Health Innovation Hub Ireland as partners in this initiative.
The first round of Smart D8 pilot calls will be announced at the Smart D8 launch event. For further information please contact Orla Veale, Smart D8 Programme Manager at orla@smartd8.ie
