Celebrating PPLI’s First Year at The Digital Hub: A Year of Growth, Achievement, and Collaboration

Post-Primary Languages Ireland (PPLI) joined The Digital Hub campus in January 2024, and on its first anniversary, is thrilled to share some highlights which have been marked by continued growth, innovation, and award-winning collaborations with Digital Hub Members.

Partnerships That Drive Impact

PPLI’s remit is to provide expertise and support for foreign language education in Ireland and collaboration continues to be the cornerstone of PPLI’s success. The team have been delighted to have had the privilege of working closely with fellow Digital Hub members and alumni to help succeed in this goal, including H2 Learning and CB Media.

In 2024, PPLI and H2 Learning were key players in the project ‘Polish for Leaving Cert Blended Learning’ which won the European Language Label (ELL) in acknowledgment of their innovative and inspirational work in language teaching, learning and promotion. More recently, PPLI have recruited the skills of The Digital Hub alumni, CB Media, on a project which will look to shine a light on some of the inspirational students who have gained valuable language, and life, skills through their experience with some of the supports available from PPLI.

A Growing Team, A Growing Vision

The team has expanded significantly since PPLI joined The Digital Hub family, with eight new staff members coming on board in 2024 and more expected in 2025, resulting in PPLI now occupying the entire top floor of the Grainstore building. The growth reflects their commitment to staying at the forefront of educational excellence in the subject area of foreign languages, including a growing focus on foreign language learning at primary schools.

#ThinkLanguages: A Resounding Success

Another stand out for the team in 2024 year was their annual national TY celebration, #ThinkLanguages Week, which unites schools, educators, and language enthusiasts in a celebration of linguistic and cultural diversity. 2024 was the biggest year for the event with over 17,500 students getting involved. The national final of the #ThinkLanguages Champion Team of the year, took place just last week at the Department of Education with a team from Navan crowned winners. To celebrate this success as well as the multicultural community that is The Digital Hub, PPLI raffled off book vouchers for Digital Hub members with the winners coming from MEG. Interestingly, it was discovered that at least 15 languages are spoken, or being learned, by The Digital Hub members, ranging from Spanish, Italian and Chinese to Latin, Hindi and Arabic, to name just a few.

Looking Ahead

As they enter their second year at The Digital Hub, PPLI are excited to continue building on this momentum. With a growing team, a supportive network, and a clear vision for the future, PPLI are looking forward to more success here at The Digital Hub, including growing partnerships and collaborations.
