Culture Date with Dublin 8 At The Digital Hub

The Digital Hub is delighted to be a Programme Partner on Culture Date with Dublin 8 and will host three events this May as part of the festival.

The Digital Hub will host three events on its campus as part of the Culture Date with Dublin 8 festival this May.

CeLiberties: An Exhibition by Duc Van Pham

The Digital Hub campus will host ‘CeLiberties: An Exhibition by Duc Van Pham’ at The Bank at The Digital Hub from 5th to 10th May.

This exhibition is a heartfelt tribute to Dublin’s Liberties, seen through the eyes of artist, Duc Van Pham, who has made the area a second home over the past fifteen years. Inspired by the people, streets and everyday moments that define the neighbourhood, the work captures not a literal record but an emotional portrait of place—its warmth, resilience and enduring character amid change. Through fragments of memory and observation, from local landmarks to personal connections like the neighbour Dessie, the paintings celebrate community, belonging and the beauty of ordinary life. Rather than tackling complex themes, the exhibition offers a sincere and reflective thank-you to the Liberties and its people, highlighting the shared humanity and sense of home that transcend geography.

Pham captures the everyday beauty, history and vibrant community of the area, reflecting on how it has embraced him and given him a sense of belonging. The exhibition pays tribute to both the old and new aspects of the Liberties, focusing on personal stories and the spirit of the people who make the place special.

Change Clothes: Gulliver’s Swap Shop

Gulliver’s Tag & Trade is a hands-on swap and making workshop led by Change Clothes as part of Culture D8. Inspired by the spirit of Gulliver’s Travels, the event invites participants to reflect on movement, exchange and storytelling through clothing. Audiences are encouraged to bring a small selection of good-quality items to swap, then take part in a relaxed drop-in workshop to design and make their own luggage tag using rescued scrap textiles, trims and haberdashery from the Change Clothes scrap store.

The session blends practical skill-building with creativity and conversation. Participants can expect simple guided demonstrations, plenty of materials to work with and a welcoming social atmosphere where making happens alongside swapping. Each finished tag becomes a small personal artifact of travel, marking journeys taken, imagined or yet to come.

The event connects strongly to the Gulliver 300 theme by exploring scale, travel and perspective through everyday materials, while also reflecting Culture D8’s focus on creativity, community participation and sustainability. Delivered by the Change Clothes team from their Dublin 8 hub, the workshop highlights how reuse can be joyful, accessible and rooted in place, offering audiences a chance to slow down, connect with others and leave with something practical they’ve made themselves.

Date and Time:

  • Friday, 8th May, 6:00pm – 8:00pm

Location: Change Clothes, The Digital Depot, Roe Ln, The Liberties, Dublin, D08 TCV4 {Get Directions on Google Maps}
