In today’s digital world there is an ever-increasing need for young people to develop their digital and STEM competences, so they can play an active role in society. Future Creators Cadets provides opportunities to develop such competences.
The Future Creators Cadets was established in 2015 by The Digital Hub and is delivered with National College of Art and Design (NCAD) and H2 Learning. The programme was inspired by the Future Creators Programme, but it targets a younger cohort of participants, recruited from local schools, with a programme tailored to their abilities, interests and needs.
The programme, run after-school, for two hours once a week, sees 10-to-12-year-olds working on projects that bring together electronics, design, music, film, art, code, and technology. Central to the programme is hands-on approach that enables the school children to collaboratively design and create digital artefacts that are meaningful to their lives.
