Post-Primary Languages Ireland are currently recruiting for Associates to join their team.

About the Role:

PPLI is currently recruiting MFL associates, with vacancies available in Dublin, the West (Galway, Mayo, Clare), and the South-West (Cork, Kerry, Limerick). While these are our immediate openings, we welcome applications from all counties for any future vacancies that may arise throughout the year.

A PPLI Associate is a registered post-primary school principal, deputy principal, teacher, or a former school principal, deputy principal or teacher, who is engaged to work in a part-time capacity with PPLI to complement and extend the capacity of the service. It is desirable that associates have a minimum of two years’ classroom experience.

PPLI Associates will be required to make themselves available to work for up to 20 days in any one year, with most work happening outside of school time. However, appointment as an associate does not guarantee 20 days’ work in any given year. The appointment is for one academic year and associates may have to re interview after each year.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates who are fully registered with the Teaching Council. PPLI Associates are sought to work in areas including the following but not limited to:

– Facilitating MFL Communities of Practice
– Supporting foreign language assistants (FLAs) at a group and individual level, liaise with schools and monitor the implementation of the scheme, including working with cooperating teachers.
– Acting as mentors for FLAs and teachers of new languages in the regions
– Attending conferences/ events organised by PPLI
– Support Education Officers and PPLI staff
– Promoting the work of PPLI as well as the Languages Connect awareness campaign

Interest in one or all the following areas is an advantage:

– Guidance
– Interculturalism and multilingualism
– CLIL
– Mentoring

Range of Knowledge, Experience and Skills required:

The most important area of expertise required is in MFL pedagogy. Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate in-depth and up-to-date knowledge and experience in this area. In addition to this, the successful candidate will have expertise in the following areas:
