Film Screener
Dublin International Film Festival (DIFF) are currently hiring for Film Screeners to join their team.
About The Role:
DIFF is seeking passionate and curious Film Screeners to join the Programming Team for DIFF 2027.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on eperience in film programming and festical curation while working closely with experienced industry professionals. Screeners will play an important role in reviewing submissions across features, documentaries, shorts and experimental work, helping shape the conversation around the DIFF 2027 programme.
We are looking for people with a genuine passion for cinema, strong communication skills and an eagerness to learn more about the festival and programming process.
The submissions screening process will start in July 2026. Participants will have fortnightly meetings with the programming team for guidance. Successful applicants will be assigned approximately four feature and six short films per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Watch feature, documentary and short film submissions assigned through FilmFreeway
- Provide written feedback on films screened
- Actively participate in fortnightly online and in-person programming meetings (10 in total) between July and November
- Support the development of film synopsis and programme copy where required
- Identify notable themes, trends and standout work within submissions, particularly those that have been flagged as of interest for DIFF 2027
- Potentially host Q&As or participate in festival panels during DIFF 2027
Essential Skills:
- Passion and understanding of film
- General knowledge of Irish and International film and/or film industry
- Interest in a wide range of film genres
- Must be a self-starter, comfortable watching films in their own time and working with hard deadlines
- Podcast experience not essential but an advantage
- Trustworthy and honest
- Comfortable with public speaking (if needed)
- Strong written and analytical skills are a plus
- Excellent communications skills (verbal and written)
- Open minded and eager to learn
- Creative thinker who is excited to think outside the box and pitch ideas

Contract: July 2026 – late November 2026

Place of work: Working remotely with occasional meeting at Dublin International Film Festival’s office at The Digital Hub, Thomas Street, Dublin
